Shit Happens

This is just a post to say that I just spent the last hour or so writing a whole elaborate article on how to deploy a site using GitHub Actions to a Docker-hosted EC2 instance.

It was amazing, with all the examples of all the pieces. I took great care to copy/paste/anonymize code samples. I linked to my sources.

And then Strapi siezed up and just... deleted it all because I hadn't saved it in the meantime. You know, like used to happen with word processors in the 1980s. No reason. Just got the spinner, and then it was all gone.

God, I hate Strapi so much sometimes. I used to love it. Sigh.

Anyway, have a super great day. Remember, life is just a series of more or less random occurrences. None of it means anything.

I leave you with this story that I often think about in times like this, when I feel anger taking up rent-free residence in my head:

The Story of Two Monks and a Woman

A senior monk and a junior monk were traveling together. At one point, they came to a river with a strong current. As the monks were preparing to cross the river, they saw a woman also attempting to cross. Fearful, the young woman asked if they could help her cross to the other side. The two monks glanced at one another because they had taken vows never to touch a woman.

But then, without a word, the older monk picked up the woman, carried her across the river, placed her gently on the other side, and carried on his journey.

The younger monk couldn’t believe what had just happened. After rejoining his companion, he was speechless, and an hour passed without a word between them. Two more hours passed, then three, until finally the younger monk could not contain himself any longer, and blurted out “As monks, we have vowed not to touch a woman, how could you then carry that woman on your shoulders?”

The older monk looked at him and replied, “Brother, I set her down on the other side of the river hours ago, why are you still carrying her?”
